friday we firmed up our plans for christmas in paradise. we will be traveling very far, far away from portland’s gloom. all the way to a place the local’s call “one happy island.” aruba it is! a huge thanks to my amazing mom & dad who are making this trip possible. i love you guys so much. so freaking excited!

sidenote #1: that’s my other sweet little wiener dog. his name is joyles vanguard of the woldorfs, dead serious. he has a beard & a crazy gremlin-like bark. he is the vice-president of bean & he’s kinda a big deal. just sayin.
sidenote #2: my favorite part of this outfit is the periwinkle blue lining peeking out of my jacket. it ties everything together just right.

what i wore : to saturday night’s festivities. it was solestruck’s grand opening of their flagship store downtown. we did cocktail hour at cafe nell & then mosied down to the shindig. i’m surprised i didn’t end up splurging on some kick’s as a result of the massive amount of free bubbly circulating the room.

personal project : mend
personal project : mend
a couple years ago while still in school i took a surface design class. i became obsessed with denim & manipulating it with different techniques. above are a few samples from the little collection i created inspired by imperfect repair. i experimented with tie dying & painting with bleach, screen printing lace, & shredding everything apart to be pieced back together. i’ve been seeing this trend again that i like to call imperfect repair. it’s been popping up on the runways of the various fashion weeks & on several different street style blogs. isabel marant’s spring 2012 collection in particular really reminded me of my personal project, mend. she even was drawn to similar colors that i choose & created.
anyways just thought i’d share the connection. this was one of my favorite classes i’ve ever taken. it really pushed my creativity & i loved all of the crafting it entailed.

i know, i know i have hated on the ombre hair in the past…i’m making an exception for jean greige & maybe kate bosworth too. but that’s it!
seriously though this girl has kool-aided her hair to perfection & although her style is a lot different from mine i really respect & dig it.
in case you get a wild hair. check out her tutorial here. i advise against it though, she’s one of the few that can actually pull off the look.
